Museums for Collectors

By , About.com Guide

The article title might be a bit redundant, Museums are always for collectors. But these museums are geared to collectors who might have a passion for certain type of collecting.

The Karl and Beverly White National Fishing Tackle Museum

If antique fishing lures are your passion, I have just the spot for your next vacation -- Jenks, Oklahoma! The non-profit public Oklahoma Aquarium has been open since May 2002 and is located near Tulsa, Oklahoma. And although the numerous marine life exhibits are both educational and beautiful, Karl and Beverly White have helped put the museum on the map with the donation of their entire fishing tackle collection.

NOTE: This museum has recently closed and is possibly moving, but you can still view pictures of the collection.

Geppi's Entertainment Museum

You've probably heard the old saying "whoever has the most toys wins". Geppi wins.

Geppi's Entertainment Museum is a dream come true for comic book collectors, a toy lover's paradise and every kid's Christmas dream come true. And if you think you're all grown up and not interested in toys anymore, a trip to the museum will have those Christmas morning memories flooding back.

Teapots from the Metropolitan Museum of Art

These antique teapot pictures are examples of the varied collection at the museum. Two vases are included from the Sevres collection. They are beautiful examples of soft-paste porcelain.

Toy and Action Figure Museum

Just a short distance off Interstate 35 is the small town of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. You might just whiz by there, but what a mistake that would be. There are two fun places to visit -- a small non-profit museum is unlike any other place you'll visit. The Toy and Action Figure Museum is a combination of what your room looked like as a kid, Mom's attic if she never threw all those toys away and a tribute to comic book and action figure artists.

The Ferrari Museum

Barb Crews
During a recent vacation trip to Italy we took a train ride north to the city of Modena. Modena, located between Milan and Bologna, isn't noted for tourist attractions except for its proximity to the Ferrari Factory and Museum. And that was our quest, visit the Ferrari Museum!
