When asked how they find all their featured items, Fritz Karch said "we have a large Roladex of dealers and collectors. Quite a network that we can connect with to find the pieces we need to borrow or in the case of the craft items, to buy."

When cleaning vintage textiles, first ascertain what the fabric is and then go from there. Karch said there are so many ways to clean your pieces, that there are no quick answers. But be especially careful with rayon items and older textiles from the 1930s.

Marks and labels are not typically found on these vintage textiles, the artists did not sign their work so no one even knows who designed them. Most pieces came with paper labels, so unless you are purchasing a hankie that was kept in new condition (label attached) in someone's dresser drawer, there is often no record of who made it. That being said, there were a few top designers who did design work and they would incorporate their signatures into the designs -- these are more valuable.

Love the look, but can't find the vintage textiles? The geography pillows shown above are new, hand-embroidered pillows from Catstudio.com. Prices are in the $149. range.
