The term "End of Day" glass refers to pieces made at the end of the factory day using the leftover molten glass, hence there is usually a variety of glass colors in the item. But, The American Toy Marble Museum says this about the above description: "While it’s a charming description, it’s not how these marbles were made. They were a specific style of marble manufactured for commercial sale over a long period of time."

Interested in collecting marbles? Judith Miller in Buy, Keep or Sell? suggests looking for solitaire boards, avoiding marbles such as Cat's Eyes that were mass-produced after the 1960s and look for the original packaging.

From Morphy's Auctions:
Private collections of impeccable quality prompted an avalanche of bids in Morphy Auctions' September 2008 Fall Sale, which realized $1.7 million.
