An eBay seller from Jamaica Plain, Mass., recently sold a rare Wedgwood Imperial bowl on eBay.

Recognizing that this was a very valuable item, and in near mint condition, buyers began bidding on Dec. 9th, with an initial bid of $925. Six bids were placed during the one-week auction. The auction closed Dec. 15th with the winning bid of $1,550.

Excellent photography of the item contributed to the success of this auction. The seller provided three photos, showcasing the top, side, and a close-up shot of the bowl. In addition to the Wedgwood mark, the rim is also marked Triple Deposit, Mappin & Wedd, Prince Plate, London & Sheffield.

With rare items such as this bowl, photography plays a key role in determining the outcome of the auction. Clear and detailed photography helps the seller to showcase his item, communicating an item's authenticity and history to potential buyers.
