8. Mexican Palace Guard Helmet

LiveAuctioneers.comNickel-silver skull, brass mountings with remnants of gilding, gold and silver-plated rivet heads. The underside of the front peak is lacquered green and the rear peak covered with green velvet. The helmet spike in the form of a Mexican eagle clutching a serpent in its talons and beak, with partially polished gilding in outstanding condition. The silver-plated emblem is the star of the Order of the Mexican Eagle set in gold on the copper-gilded medallion.
