Thankfully the music didn't really die, but has lived on forever or at least for the last fifty or so years.
Fans can have more than the music -- a personal memento of Buddy Holly in the form of stuff he loved and lived with. Holly's widow Maria Elena consigned over 100 personal items to Heritage Auctions that were offered in a public auction in April 2006. Items included numerous personal photographs for a scrapbook he planned to create, suits, ties, jewelry items, unreleased music demos and as well as other personal effects.
The highlight of the auction was a gift Maria gave to Buddy as an early Christmas present.
