When prices are high, reproductions are sure to follow and cast iron toys is one category with lots of reproductions and fakes.
It's a lot easier to tell if an item is fake when you can pick it up and feel it. But buying online becomes more tricky.
- Ask for several pictures from seller of different views.
- Do a search and see how many similar items are being sold, read the descriptions carefully. Nothing shouts reproductions as much as too many identical items on eBay.
- Always ask if the seller offers refunds and stands by their products.
