Topps Finest Football

From Mike Eisner, About.com Guest

Nov 23 2005
Topps Finest football has become a hobby staple over the years. Thanks, in part, to the "Finest" brand name coupled with the enhanced autograph checklist – you’ve got another winner.

With each hobby-box containing three "mini" boxes, each containing at least one certified autograph and a bunch of refractor parallels, Topps has built on a continuing positive trend in its "Finest" brand. And that is:

The collector, as well as the hobby as a whole, enjoys pulling autographed rookie cards from their boxes.

The equation is that simple and Topps recognizes that no better than it its 2005 Topps Finest football product.

With an approximate $100 price point, Finest delivers an average of three autographs and a six refractor parallels per full hobby-box. In addition, there is a plethora of rookie cards that are part of the base set which are quite easy to pull.

In our box we a couple of nice hits: Alex Smith base autograph (QB-49ers); and, a Mark Clayton black autograph refractor serial-numbered to just 99 copies!

We also pulled a blue-refractor rookie card of Maurice Clarett, which proved to be more novelty than anything else.

Every Finest box also contains a sealed box-topper chronicling Peyton Manning’s storied career. The base Manning refractor card is serial-numbered to 599, with autographed versions extremely rare and serial-numbered to just one copy per autograph.

Topps Finest football is the signature high-end Topps football product. It’s got a little bit of everything for the football hobbyist – lots of rookie autographs, refractors, rookie cards and a Peyton Manning box-topper.

What a way to start the 2005 football card season!
