Whether youve ripped through a pack at your local hobby shop or Wal-Mart, in a stadium or at a Topps sponsored event, its safe to say that there is more to Pack Wars than just a bunch of colorful cardboard.
Heres how it works:
Oh, and did I mention that Topps randomly inserted $100 bills, too? There are 175 total base card playing subjects. The base set also includes a foil parallel, which is serial-numbered to 125. As a bonus, each box includes another Topps Innovationan MLB Collector Chip.
Now on to the goodies we pulled from our box of Pack Wars:
Autographs: Miguel Cabrera, Aaron Boone, C.C. Sabathia
Relics: Alfonso Soriano, Manny Ramirez, Rafael Palmeiro
Collector Chip: Mark Prior green parallel #/125
Topps Pack Wars is certainly one of the most innovative products to hit the marketplace in a long time. The allure here is a prime mix of sports-card gaming and a guaranteed relic/autograph per pack at a reasonable price point of $20 per pack.
Another key to the product is one of the first certified autographs of Barry Bonds in 2005. We also like the fact that there are a handful of cut signatures randomly inserted, which makes the game of Pack Wars even more exciting.
Keep your eyes out for Pack Wars tournaments and Topps sponsored events, which may be coming to a hobby shop or stadium near you this summer.
