Upper Deck Game Used Basketball

From Mike Eisner, for About.com

Oct 19 2004
Are you ready for some basketball?

Well, the folks at Upper Deck proved that they are game, with last week’s release of their 2004-05 SP Game Used basketball product.

As has been the case with previous years, the 2004-05 version will set you back $30 per pack with the guarantee of pulling at least one game-used and/or certified autograph per pack. In addition, every hobby box contains six packs.

This set contains the highly popular Rookie Exclusives certified autographed sub-set, in which every card is serial #’d out of 100 copies. We were lucky enough to pull an autograph from this insert set of Los Angeles Clippers lottery pick Shaun Livingston. These have been consistently selling in the $150 range on eBay. Not a bad start to a jam packed box, which also included a game-used jersey card of Jason Kidd, serial #’d out of 100 and game-jersey cards of Dirk Nowitzki and Paul Pierce.

In addition to these cards, I also pulled a serial-numbered rookie card of Boston Celtics first-round draft pick – Tony Allen and a LeBron James “Season In Review”serial #’d to 999.

The 2004-05 Upper Deck SP Game Used basketball set is a great example of how innovative card manufacturers can get. There are dual and triple autographed cards, multi-player memorabilia cards, plus a plethora of buy-back autographs and autographed cards of the top rookies from the 2004 NBA Draft.

If you are a fan of high-end NBA trading card products, this is surely your “bag, baby!”
