ENT doctors are partial to ear trumpets, of which there are a wide variety made from early celluloid, brass, copper, silver, gold or even sea shell.
But trying to find one which has not had a hard life is difficult. Perhaps they are so frequently dented because their owners in frustration would throw them against the wall.
