The REAL (Original) McCoy Company never made a Little Red Riding Hood and these were made to fool collectors. They are typically "aged" or "crazed" to fool a new collector. Jars marked McCoy have brought very high prices on Internet auctions -- folks either think they are buying a "real" McCoy jar or have seen the Hull jar elsewhere and think they are getting that one.
The most common line when selling this is "I have no idea how old this is, as I bought it in Grandma's estate sale". If that is true, Grandma had a pretty lucrative business making jars in her basement. The original McCoy Company never registered or copyrighted their trademark and when this was discovered it opened a Pandora's Box of legal battles, reproductions and fakes. Different decals are shown on "McCoy" jars, but make no difference in the prices. It should always be a personal choice on the jars you want to include in your collection, these pages are to help you make an informed choice. Many Little Red Riding Hood collectors include this jar in their collection knowing that it is not the real McCoy. (Again, an informed and personal choice.)- Size: Approximately 12" tall
