If you use a rotating Christmas tree stand, be very careful when using near a window. We almost had a Christmas disaster recently when a six foot Christmas tree got caught up in a curtain. Not one of the 100 glass ornaments on the tree fell off, even though the tree wound up at a 45 degree angle completely entangled in the curtains. Lucky? Yes we were!
Moral of the story -- keep trees away from curtains and never leave it on and rotating when not in the room.
