I love to get catalogs in the mail, but the one I that I tear into immediately is Neiman's Christmas catalog. Neiman Marcus is celebrating 100 years and this year's catalog is the 100th Anniversary Edition Christmas Book.
Although the fantasy gifts are not disappointing, I was a little disappointed in the "regular" items in the catalog. And yes, Neiman Marcus does have regular items to buy.
The first few pages have fashions inspired by the decades of the company's history, but overall it appears that the catalog seems to have many more fashion and accessories than in previous editions. Not quite as many unique or fun things for an average shopper who may not be interested in fashions.
There are a few things that will interest collectors such as several pages of Jay Strongwater pieces that includes an enameled and crystal Dreidel selling for $350. Also shown is a Steuben "Celebration" Cupcake for $950., an exclusive $150. Madame Alexander doll and Christmas ornaments from Italy and Patricia Breen.
I was surprised to see as many as three salt and pepper sets! Their wide range was $450. for an exclusive 100 anniversary St. Petersburg set with 1,8886 crystals, a Santa Snow Globe set at $45 and a silver plated with enamel Yorkie set for $35.
Although there are several fantasy items I would be very happy to see under the Christmas tree, I do love the Dragon Topiary (see page 94/95) for a mere $35,000.
