The original circular cardboard candle holder is present, as well as the original circular paper label on the underside that says Pulp Reproduction Company, Made in USA, Pat. App. For, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our research tells us that the design for this Jack o’ Lantern was applied for in May 1938 by John H. Olsen, and the patent was registered in May 1940 with patent number 2,202,064. Since our example has a label that indicates that the patent is applied for but not registered, it is most likely that this lantern was made between May 1938 and May 1940.
