Sidney Crosby’s first autograph and first jersey card were carefully inserted to form THE card to own this year, and it’s going to cost you a pretty penny, too. That’s right – the 2005-06 SPx Crosby autographed jersey rookie card has finally hit eBay and has been selling for astronomical prices – say $1,500 for a two-color jersey…and that’s at a fixed price!
Aside from the Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin’s autograph jersey rookie card has gained a ton of steam, fetching $500-600 a piece for a plain swatch, and a premium for a multi-color.
Oh, and did I mention that both Crosby and Ovechkin have serial-numbered SPx Rookie Excitement cards that fetch in the hundreds of dollars, as well?
Sealed hobby boxes of 2005-06 Upper Deck SPx have been super-strong sellers at well over suggested retail price, which is a good sign that the hockey card industry is alive and well…OK – it’s alive and kicking, actually!
Each box of SPx hockey contains at least one autographed jersey rookie card as well as a number of game-worn jersey cards and serial-numbered non-autograph/jersey rookie cards and parallels.
The highlight of our box was an autographed jersey card of Rangers rookie phenom Petr Pruscha serial-numbered to 1,499. The Crosby and Ovechkin are serial-numbered to 499.
Upper Deck SPx hockey is for the thrill-seeker and the collector, which is a rare occurrence these days. Sealed hobby boxes are fetching $150-160 on eBay and a bit more in your hobby store.
With such a limited amount of hockey product on the market this year, this product should continue to increase in value and provide lots of excitement and tremendous pulls for collectors all over the world.
