Company founder Sue Myal chatted with me recently, explaining how they got started, their ornaments and the company as it is today.
Susan and her husband, who is a first generation Polish, would visit Poland regularly to see his relatives. On one of those trips in 2001, they visited a company gallery to buy a few ornaments. The company told the Myals that they did custom ornaments, which sent the wheels turning for Sue!
The next year she submitted the design for Our Lady of Guadalupe to them. Then she had to sell the ornaments, so she sent out several hundred flyers to places that she thought would be a good fit for the unusual piece. Less than two weeks later, she received orders for ten dozen pieces.
Two of those original orders came from a store in Santa Fe and a gallery in San Antonio. Both places remain customers today, with Susan’s Christmas Shop now offering their 8th exclusive ornament.
