Collectors have been able to enjoy
Christina's World ornaments for over fourteen years, but not many may know how she got her start and story behind the beautiful works of art.
While working with her father, Christina fell in love with glass and what could be created in the world of glass ornaments.
Christina's background was in marketing -- the business was importing items from China, including plush and Christmas decorations. She says "although we tried introducing the glass ornaments from Europe, they were too expensive for his market. They were more high end than his customers wanted. A few years after he passed away, I decided to go off on my own in a new direction. Creating high end glass ornaments from Europe."
With a business marketing background working for Creative Art Flowers and her mother's love of fabrics, Christina's World was a natural progression for her.
European Glass:
From Christine: "I spent time in Europe researching the different vendors, sending designs and getting samples, from the various companies. I loved the designs and ornaments, knew nothing about the back end of the business. We had a huge warehouse with my father's company, but never knew about things like the packing and shipping of items. I learned."
Christina's ornaments are made in Poland and the Czech Republic.
The Designs:
Overall the ornaments have a feeling of romance and poetry and although there are traditional Christmas designs, the majority of ornaments can be used year-round. About 150 new pieces are introduced each year, usually following themes and colors (2000 ornaments since the beginning). The most popular themes are the Santa faces, florals and butterflies.
Because of the inspiration of Christina's mother, there is a love of fabric and textures and in turn this has influenced her designs with many ornaments having unusual textures.
Mini Ornaments:
Mini ornaments are very popular sellers. With people living in smaller homes or wanting something smaller to decorate, they are the perfect solution. Prices on the mini ornaments start at under $10.
Where to Buy:
Christina's World ornaments can be found in select shops around the country, as well as several museum stores. They can also be ordered online directly from the company web site.
Christina's World also exhibits at the New York and Atlanta Gift Shows, as well as the Museum Store Association shows.
Barb's Bottom Line:
If you love glass ornaments and are looking for some unusual pieces, look no further than Christina's World. Her specialty, beautiful
oversized florals, are not just for Christmas, but can and should be displayed year-round.
