Howdy Doody Cookie Jars

By , About.com Guide

There are enough Howdy Doody cookie jars to have their own category in your collection. Purinton, Vandor, and Treasure Craft all made jars. But the first one made was during Howdy's heyday - the Purinton head.

Purinton Howdy Doody Cookie Jar

PurintonHake's Americana
The Purinton jar was offered for sale in 1953 for the price of $3.99.

Sold around 1953, the Purinton Howdy Doody jar is considered one of the classics in the cookie jar world. Since the jars were probably handled by lots of small hands, the lid usually wound up being broken!

Treasure Craft

In the late 1990s Treasure Craft did a series of limited edition character jars. The Howdy Doody jar was one of the more popular pieces made in the series and today is considered quite collectible.

Vandor

eBay Seller: aablmb / Tony Burns
In the 1980s the Vandor company made several Howdy Doody items including a bank, cookie jar and this smaller jar. All of the Vandor jars are very collectible, but the Howdy Doody jars seem to stand out among the crowd.
