A recent survey asked about favorite Shawnee jars and the Smiley Pig was the hands-down winner. It's always fun to read the survey comments, here are a few things that folks mentioned.
- Shawnee Pottery has been a pleasure in my life for over 20 years. We have met some wonderful people because of collecting. We will never give it up.
- We love shawnee jars and the pottery, but the Puss N Boots has always been our personal favorite. Puss N Boots started us on this hunt 32 years ago. It was the cookie jar in Mark's kitchen as a little boy.
- In my opinion, Shawnee made the best jars. The figural jars all look so happy and content. <li> Smiley w/clover is my favorite but I imagine most would say Puss N Boots! I LOVE Shawnee and have many of the piggies--- the faces are the GREATEST and the colors and gold are terrific! My friends even love my jars!! I could go and on because these jars are my favs!
- I have several Shawnee jars. I'm fond of all of them, but Smiley Pig (I own three) seems to have a warmth of personality that the others just don't have. Just look at him and you gotta smile!
- Yes, I have one. It belonged to my great-grandmother and I ate many a sugar cookie from it. She always said "Lift the lid with both hands and set it on the table before you get your cookie" After she died, it sat on my mother's refrigerator until she died. My sister recently bought one on ebay for herself---I guess she just couldn't wait until I died!
