Collectors John and Sheila Voeller have been collecting Hippos for years, it all started on their second date, but the collection took off a few years later when an aunt heard them admiring a hippopotamus at a store.
From Sheila:
Our collection numbers around 3500 hippos of all types -- plush, ceramic, a slot machine and even gold (bracelet). We also belong to an Internet hippo club called the Hippolotofus with club members from all over the world and in all walks of life. Students, some children, teachers, artists, engineers, nurses, business owners, geeks and even the super wealthy belong to the group. We are all drawn together because of the love of hippos and even have annual reunions! Some of my very favorite hippos are my cookie jars.
