Lunch boxes, Mr. Potato Head, PEZ, smiley faces, bubble lights are all some of the things that you can use. Even a worn out slinky would be kind of fun as a garland on the tree. Add a few newer, but vintage looking toys and ornaments for a tree that will bring a smile to everyone who sees it.
This particular tree was in our game room and included a few lunch boxes, bubble lights, smiley face items, sock monkeys and a few old game tins. Under the tree were old boxed Santa and Christmas games found over the years. In the tree were three metal paddle shaped pieces that clamp on the tree to hold bigger items, see next page for close-ups. Although these were originally made to hold Dept. 56 houses in a tree, they can be used for almost anything with a little Quake Hold for security.
The best part about this tree and decorations was the real McCoy cookie jar nestled in the tree-- a Smiley Face.
Tips and Hints
- Dig out all those toys and games you haven't figured out how to display.
- Stick soft toys, e.g. soft monkey into the recesses of the tree.
- Use bubble lights as an accent not as the main lighting of the tree.
- Have an old poodle skirt? Will it work under the tree?
