Glass Ornaments

Partridge in a Pear Tree -- 2004

Radko
I have several trees, so I tackle each tree separately and store the decorations in individual tubs and in those storage drawer units available at discount stores.
  • Make sure each glass ornament is inventoried as it is taken off the tree.
  • Wrap each ornament in acid free tissue paper or Bounty Microwave paper towels (which are also acid free). Several well-known collectors use plastic bags and plastic bubble wrap to pack their ornaments. The main thing is to make sure the ornaments don't clink against each other!
  • Put each set or grouping together in its own storage drawer or storage box. (Here is where I differ from some of the experts, as the storage boxes I use are plastic.}
  • If moisture is problem, throw in a few silica gel packs.
  • Label each drawer or box to make it easier next fall.
  • Store these plastic tubs in an indoor closet. Never in the attic or basement!
