Antique German Ornament

eBay Seller
Anyone who has ever sold on eBay has the dream of finding that golden item. A little object, perhaps found hidden in with other goods, that sky rockets in price. Those dreams do come true, most recently for a fragile glass ornament that withstood being rolled around in a box with other old Christmas pieces and sold at an auction as a box lot.

The lucky eBay seller didn't realize what they had until the ornament was put on eBay with a starting price of $7.99. Within three days the ornament was over $200. Another bid came in, bringing the price up to over $400, but it was the last day that would-be buyers got busy.

On closing day the clown had a $433. bid, but several folks were intent on adding it to their collection.

Final price: $1864.

The seller said there were several Christmas pieces in the box lot and they were planning to go no higher than $25. for the entire group. Getting caught up in the auction fever, the eBay seller wound up paying $35. Those other pieces in the lot? They also did quite well on eBay!

This particular clown ornament mold is found in John Lightner's Christmas Rarities with an estimated value of $800.-$900.
