You may wonder why a series of mystery books are reviewed on a Collectibles web site, but it's no mystery at all.
Hannah is a collector's type of heroine. She shops the thrift stores, wears a shirt that says "Got Cookies" and feeds her beloved cat Moise from a Garfield bowl. As Hannah goes around solving the town murders, she still has time to whip up some wonderful desserts. The recipes are shared in the book and will make you want to finally fill those cookie jars you have on
display!
Another book featuring our favorite heroine, Hannah Swensen, will soon be out and just in time for the holiday munchies to hit -- her books always make me hungry! You know the drill -- Collectibles isn't quite the place for murder mysteries, but this is a different series, one that definitely appeals to collectors! Hannah shops thrift stores and owns The Cookie Jar bakery, it doesn't get much better for a fun mystery.
From Kensington Publishing: Fudge Cupcake Murder combines laugh-out-loud humor, romance and suspense, as Hannah works to clear her brother-in-law, save Andrea's marriage, and catch Sheriff Grant's killer. The riveting conclusion, on Halloween night, makes the version of "Dracula" performed at the Lake Eden Community Theater seem tame in comparison.
Another satisfying mystery by Joanne Fluke that leaves you hungry for more! Hannah Swensen is a heroine most of us can relate to as nothing is quite perfect in her life. She has an interfering mother, a demanding cat, a sister that always looks great and now, in this book, she realizes her clothes are getting a little too snug. But she does have a great bakery -- The Cookie Jar with delicious, fresh-baked, goodies that you can almost taste and smell.
This mystery is fun to read and proves a book doesn't need sex and violence to be a good seller and capture the reader's attention. Fluke takes along an appropriate cookie jar to her book signings and for this book, I am proud to say, I helped her find the perfect fit. Yes, Virginia, there is a Blueberry Muffin cookie jar!
Strawberry Shortcake Murder is centered around the Hartland Flour Dessert Bake-Off-- a big deal in Lake Eden, that the town folks hope will become an annual affair. It's a fun, light hearted mystery to read and gets you quickly involved trying to figure out the latest criminal in the quiet town of Lake Eden. Unfortunately my guesses were not very good, as my first one wound up as the second victim.
In between interviewing suspects and dodging her well-meaning mother (who is trying to marry her off) Hannah manages her bakery -- The Cookie Jar. This book will have you scooting off to the kitchen to try one of the nine recipes included.
