Warman's Field Guides from Krause PublicationsBarbara Crews

The Bottom Line

Fun small books full of information, but I feel they are a little costly for the casual collector who might want to tote a few along to the flea markets. It really depends on how you look at it, would you rather spend less for a small book that is a "condensed" version of information with prices or spend more to get a book that covers the subject in depth? Personally, if I could buy them for under ten dollars, I would probably snatch up five or six to use as reference material.

  • small compact size
  • excellent color photos
  • easy to use and read format

Guide Review - Warman's Field Guides from Krause Publications

They're a fun concept, small books to carry with you on the latest quest for collectibles. The field guides typically have several pages of introduction, including information on condition and pricing of the subject items. The books are a handy size, approximately 5.5" by 4.5", with around 500 pages of information in a very easy-to-use format. These would be great for the collector who is focused on one of the subjects presented and wants a small book to carry around.

The pictures are great, in color, large and plentiful enough to be very useful. And although the font type was a little on the small side, I liked the way the pages were laid out. Text was easy to read with a clean-looking background with plenty of white space.
