The Official Guidebook to America's State Quarters

Probably no one is more qualified to write about America's fascination with State Quarters, than David Ganz, a member of the Citizens Commemorative Coin Advisory Committee. Ganz, who helped with legislation for the quarter program, tells the fascinating history of how the lessons learned from the Bicentennial coins were applied to the new program. We also learn just how complicated it is to come up with a new coin program and the problems along with way. U.S. Mint director Philip Diehl stated Ganz deserves "the lion's share of the credit for making the 50 States program a reality...for his persistence as an advocate."

The Guidebook has photographs and preliminary drawings for many of the coins that are still to be minted, along with information on how the designs were chosen. Not all of the designs have been decided, so even you can be a coin designer and Ganz tells you how! For those who haven't looked at their change lately, the obverse (front for us non-collectors) is the same on all State Quarters -- a portrait of George Washington. but the back is where each State can show off their individuality.

  • Ganz has the complete specifications on each Quarter already produced, along with the estimates on the numbers minted.
  • Grading hints are given, including what to look for that will affect the values of a coin.
  • Check out the Investment Potentials of the various coins.
  • Have a question of the mint errors that might make your quarters worth much more than twenty-five cents?
The answer will be in the Guidebook!

There is a lot of information packed into this paperback book and the issue price was just 24 quarters.

This guide would be a great gift to give to both would-be coin collectors or even an accomplished collector that might not be aware of the interesting history behind the State Quarters.

New collectors will really enjoy the book and the best example I can give is the book kept disappearing at my house. Several different family members were picking up the Official Guidebook to America's State Quarters to read and walking away with it!

This book is no longer being published, but is available on the secondary market. Compare Prices
