Bobbing Head or Bobble Head Dolls

Barbara Crews
Bobbing or Bobble Head Dolls have been around since the 50's/60's when they were imported from Japan. It's these older dolls that have soared in value over the past ten - fifteen years. Manufacturers started taking advantage of the collector interest and resulting in many new bobbing heads available. A sure sign of their success is the giveaways at major league parks when there are long lines to get into the park.

The newer dolls that are being sold today probably won't appreciate in value very much, if at all. There are just too many of them made. The exception would be the limited edition pieces, such as those given away at stadiums, that have the potential to rise in value. But anticipated values shouldn't be the only reason for collecting. A collection of Bobbing Heads from the different stadiums visited or with players from your favorite team would be a fun thing to work on acquiring. After all, how can you not smile when looking at one?
