American Pickers with Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz

By , About.com Guide

I don't ever remember as much pro and con discussion about a show dealing with antiques/junk/collectibles/folk art (take your choice) as there has been about American Pickers on the HISTORY Channel. The show chronicles two pickers going around the country side, stopping at places that look like they have loads of old junk.

The idea for the show started when Wolfe decided to take a video camera along with him on his picking trips. These were originally posted on his web site and has now grown into a professional crew following them along as they look for stuff and document the real treasures -- the people they meet.

A Chat with Mike Wolfe

Recently I had a chance to chat with Mike, one of the two sleuths who entertain us on a weekly basis as they travel the backroads of America on their modern day treasure hunt. It all started back when he was four years old and they couldn't afford a bicycle!

About American Pickers

HISTORY
American Pickers on the History Channel is the one of America's favorite new shows, the weekly show chronicles two antique and collectible pickers, Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz, on their quest to rescue the treasures lost in old barns and junkyards, as well as give a glimpse of the real American Treasures, the collectors who have this stuff.

What's Your Favorite Episode

What's your favorite episode of American Pickers on HISTORY? I have several I really enjoyed, but will say that the one that had me hyperventilating (not in a good way) was Mole Man! Feel free to add comments on why you liked or disliked an episode.

Selling Your Stuff

Inherited a load of stuff from a family member or trying to downsize your collectibles? Mike said it's an overwhelming process to sell a large lot of items, has several thoughts on what you might do.

American Pickers -- What do you think?

The comments still keep coming on American Pickers! Every time an episode airs, another comment or two is added. What's your thoughts? Are you watching the show, are you sure to DVR every episode, are you ready to become a picker?
