One PokeMOM shared her version of the Pokémon cartoon for those of us that are
clueless.
The Cartoon Show
Do you remember that cartoon in Japan that caused several hundred children
to have seizures and be rushed to the emergency room?
It was actually only one episode. That was Pokémon.
About the story . . .
It's about a boy named Ash Ketchum (age 10) a Pokémon trainer,
who wants to be Pokémon master. He travels the world with Misty (10 or 11) and Brock
(12 --but seems a lot older). Misty is traveling with Ash, because Ash destroyed her bicycle
and she is staying with him until he gets it replaced.
Brock used to be a gym leader at the Pewter City Gym, but decided to go
with Ash when his father returned to take care of his family.
Brock wants to take care of Pokémon.
Ash's rival is Gary Oak, who is the same age,
but always seems to be one step ahead of Ash.
Professor Oak is a Pokémon expert, who gave Ash his first Pokémon (Pikachu) and gives advice.
He is also Gary's grandfather and is always reminding Ash how much
better Gary is doing, but not in a mean way.
Professor Oak also gave Ash a pokedex. A pokedex is handheld computer,
that can tell you about whatever Pokémon you run into. It will tell you where
they can be found what they evolve into or from, what kind
they are and where you can find them.
The Bad Guys
The bad guys in the cartoon are
Team Rocket. Jesse, James and Meowth (a Pokémon that can talk)
are always after Ash's Pikachu.
They hatch plots to try and steal him.
Other Characters
A couple of other characters are Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy.
They are the same in every city. Every city has an Officer Jenny and a Nurse Joy.
They look alike and they are cousins with the others.
Known Pokémon
There are 150 known Pokémon. There are several different types.
The type of Pokémon is what kind of attack the Pokémon uses.
There are grass, poison, fire, flying, water, bug, normal, electric,
ground, psychic, fighting, rock, ice, ghost, and dragon Pokémon.
Some Pokémon can have a combination of attacks and some types are just naturally better then other types.
Evolves
A lot of the Pokémon have one or two evolves, but a few have no evolves.
Pokémon evolve through the training and care of the
Pokémon trainer, they can also evolve in the wild on their own.
Gotta Catch Them All
To catch a Pokémon, you must battle it with one of your Pokemons.
If your Pokémon wins, you catch the other Pokémon.
Not all the Pokémon can be caught in the wild, some of them have to caught as
a lower evolve and train it so that evolves.
The Badges
As they travel around the world they also try to collect badges.
You can collect badges by going to gyms in different cites and fighting the gym leaders Pokémon.
There are about eight gyms (I think!). Ash is usually the underdog,
but usually wins because he cares so much about his Pokémon.
You gotta know these
Gotta catch'em all
- Sort of the theme of the show
'Pokemon' I choose you
- This is how you call it to battle while throwing the Pokeball
Pokeball Go
- While throwing the ball, this is how you catch one, it hits the Pokémon and he goes into the ball.
That's Right
- Team Rocket say this everytime they show up.
