Pipka
Patriotic Santa
The Patriotic Santa
from Pipka

Guide Rating -

Pipka explains more about this Patriotic Santa, who first appeared in America during the Civil War of the 1860s. According to their research, Santa was a popular figure even back then. He represented the spirit of Christmas, no matter where you lived. The press used him as a propaganda figure with patriotic stars and stripes as his costume. President Lincoln said the patriotic Santa was the North's "best recruiting sergeant".

In the Pipka version, Santa carries a sack full of traditional Christmas toys and wrapped gifts. His costume is red, white and blue with bright stars adorning his vest, hat and bag. He is depicted raising the American flag, symbolizing the hopes and dreams of all of the people of this country, the United States of America. The Patriotic Santa is part of The Gallery Collection and stands approximately 11" tall. Retail price is $110. This large Santa is limited to the year 2001, but in the spring of 2002, smaller versions will be available. A 6" inch Patriotic Santa will retail for approximately $40., a 3" miniature for $9., as well as a 3" ornament for $9. The designs will be identical to the large version.

Although Pipka's Patriotic Santa was originally designed to celebrate America's 225th birthday, it is now more relevant than ever. Pipka has designated a portion of the proceeds from The Gallery Santa to the relief fund. The smaller versions, when they are released in 2002, will also help out the relief efforts, with 20% of the proceeds to be donated.
