These Are a Few of my Favorite Things!
Christmas Cards, December 16th

Back to Favorite Things Calendar

I am not sure if my saving Christmas cards consists of a collection or not, but I do save a few every year. I love to send cards out and usually spend quite a bit of time designing (or looking for) the perfect card. Most people would say it's not worth the time and effort, but I think it is.

We love EVERY card we receive and they all mean a lot to us. But it's really fun getting a card from someone reflecting their lifestyle, interests or a holiday picture. Some of the cards we've received include Pooh, Disney, toys, trains and cookie jars. In this day of email cards, it's special feeling to receive cards in the mail.

About seven or eight years ago I met a fellow collector of glass ornaments. And since I've met him, I have obviously treasured our friendship -- but one of the great perks of being his friend is getting a special edition card every year. The card might show a trip he went on, feature his collectibles or highlight something in his life that year. These cards are worthy of framing and one day I will do just that, creating my own Terry Zinn Gallery!

Shown on right is Zinn's 1999 card featuring Mt. McKinley in Alaska.

The White House Card 2002
The same day Zinn's card came in the mail, there was also an envelope from the White House. It was another special card received this year.
