Don & Norma Winton: We did a fish jar way back. Jonah and the whale and now I am making a Jonah and Whale S & P and planning to make Dolphins S & P's.

Msmammy:Who manufactures your jars?

Don & Norma Winton: Nobody manufactures, we do have a decorator and we do have a kiln.

In fact, the one of a kind cookie jar, I did the sculpting, firing and bisque form. A lady is doing decorating for me. It is interesting that she used to be the head decorator back at Twin Winton Ceramics. from the sixties to the late seventies. She also did the jar last year that did so well.

Twin Winton Ceramics closed in 1977. Our older brother sold the property and retired.

Kazz:Have you ever designed a Spaceman cookie jar, Mr. Winton?

There is an old one that I can't find much information on. It is airbrushed in the American Bisque, Starnes - Sierra style.

Don & Norma Winton: I did a salt and pepper for Arcadia Ceramics, but NO jar.

Kazz:Drats!

Don & Norma Winton: It was a rocket ship and a spaceman.

Donna:I just got a lamb and lion cookie jar did you make it?

Don & Norma Winton: Donna, we did make a lion and lamb jar. I made it for a friend, on the bottom it had a stamp that said Witness Pottery.

Donna:I have two one in brown and the other one is glazed.

Don & Norma Winton: It did not say Twin Winton, and it is rare. I would have to see a picture of it, would love to see a picture to see if it is mine. If you could send a picture, we could verify it.

Msmammy:How do you mark your jars?

Elsie:Do you use a special mark on your jars?

Don & Norma Winton: Like a symbol Elsie?

I do a fish symbol. Everything I make, I do a fish symbol .. the Christian symbol, but that is relatively recent that I am doing that.

Elsie: Please tell us about your Disney items?

Don & Norma Winton: I have done Disney, three dimensional characters for about 45 years, since 1954.

The first thing I did was a model of the Castle, it was before Disneyland was built. It was a playpen type of thing about four feet in diameter and made out of plastic. I did all of their characters, even Steamboat Willie.

Elsie:I love the Disney jars, they are great.

Don & Norma Winton: The last thing I did was a line of Winnie the Pooh bathroom items for children, soap dish, toothbrush holder, lotion holder. It is less than a year ago, that I did a speculation line, Doc Holiday Mold manufacturer but that is not in production.

JanSue:I have Mickey and Minnie jars --matching tea pots and S & P's. Did you do all of them?

Don & Norma Winton: Jan, who manufacturered them? The last time I did a line of that nature was back in the fifties.

JanSue:Don't know who is the manufacturer, the jars and tea pots I would have to look--I'm a Mickey fan not a jar collector.

I have the original Mickey phone is that yours?

Don & Norma Winton: I did the one that has Mickey standing up. I also did the Snoopy telephone the same time as the Mickey Mouse Telephone.

JanSue:I have had my Mickey phone since SW Bell first allowed you to buy the case (not the inside) it is fun to know who designed it.

Smoky:Have you ever done a jar on special request for a movie or television show? Don & Norma Winton: No, we haven't. No cookie jars for movie or television show. I did do two bronze busts for the Academy of Art & Science, the Emmy Awards Academy, two of the founders of the main media outlets -- Saranoff and William Paley.
