McCoy Discovery Rocks the Pottery World
Not A Fake Anymore
Please Note... this was an April 1st article (April Fools Day)
Press Release
Zanesville, Ohio, April 2002:

The M.R.R.U. Institute has released a report that has caused shock waves thoughout the Antique and Collectibles World. It has also caused many eBay sellers to triumphantly declare that, "Yes, they were right all along".

After exhaustively going through the archives of the McCoy Pottery company, interviewing the principals of the company and checking the records of the sculptors and artists from the 1940's, the M.R.R.U. Institute hereby proclaims that, YES, there was a McCoy Little Red Riding Hood Jar.

And that furthermore, the Hull Little Red Riding Hood is in reality a reproduction of the McCoy jar.

Records show that the angelic Little Red Riding Hood was first produced in 1941, whereas the design patent for the Little Red Riding Hood issued to Louise Bauer was not issued until 1943. Because the McCoy Company did not patent their designs, the early design was easily and legally copied.

Sellers are swarming eBay, listing as many of the Hull Little Red Riding Hood jars as possible, before the gullible public is aware of this news. Prices of the Hull jar are forecast to drop as much as 75%, while the McCoy Little Red Riding Hood will skyrocket to hundreds of dollars.

The angel jar is one of the rarer McCoy Little Red Riding Hood jars, but it is expected many more will be found at Grandma's estate sales and garage sales throughout the country. The archives show that these jars were especially prevalent in the southeast part of the U.S. and many should be showing up in those regions in the coming months.

AND if you believe any of the above, the Brooklyn Bridge is still for sale!
HAPPY APRIL FOOLS DAY!!!
