![]() I make this recipe at Christmas for cut-out cookies, and also at Easter to cut out bunny, chicken and egg shaped cookies. It is great any time you need special shapes for cookies. |

Rolled Cookies
| |
|
1/2 cup shortening 1 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 2 cups self-rising flour |
1 egg Dash salt 2 TB milk |
|
Blend shortening, sugar and egg. Add flavoring. Stir in dry ingredients alternately with milk.
Chill at least one hour. Roll to 1/8-inch thickness; cut into shapes. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 400 degrees F. for about 6 minutes. Do not brown. Remove to cooling racks. For decorating cookies: Before rolling dough, you can add food coloring. Before baking, you can sprinkle with sugar tinted with food coloring. Or, after baking, you might shake on sprinkles, etc., or decorate with icing. | |
