My all-time favorite cookie, no matter what time of year, is Oatmeal Raisin. What better jar to hold them than the Quaker Oats cookie jar. Of course, they never last long enough to be stored in there anyway!

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

3/4 cup shortening
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup raisins
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup chopped pecans, optional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Beat first six ingredients until creamy. Add flour and cinnamon. Mix well. Add raisins and oats. Add pecan pieces, if desired.

Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
Remove to wire rack to cool
