This is the first cookie jar I saw as a child. As long as I can remember, it sat on the cabinet in the kitchen of my childhood home. It never had any cookies in it then, and even now, it only holds memories.

Chocolate Chunk Cookies

1 cup (2 sticks) softened margarine
2/3 cup peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2-2/3 cup self-rising flour
12-oz. package milk chocolate chunks
1 cup broken pecan pieces
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

In large bowl, with electric mixer at medium speed, beat margarine and peanut butter until well blended. Add sugars; beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until smooth. Stir in flour. Add chocolate chunks and pecans, and mix well.

Drop by heaping teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet, about 2 inches apart, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove cookies to wire rack to cool.
