More About This Cookie Jar -- Is it Junk or a Jewel?
Red Wing Chef

Back to >> Is it Junk or a Jewel Index

From TH: I have a Red Wing cookie jar. It has the USA and the Red Wing stamp on the bottom, it also has the Red Wing mark on the bottom. If you could let me know about this jar it sure would help me.

My Guesstimate -- Red Wing did several color variations of the Pierre Chef, the yellow and beige are the most common colors and are in the $75. - $125 range. The blue chef is in the $100. - $150. range and the green chef is about $100. more.

There is also a pinkish jar in Roerig's Book I that is shown as hard to find and slightly higher in value than the green chef. These values are for jars in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.

These Guesstimates are meant as a GENERAL GUIDE, not as a bible of prices. The values shown will give you an idea of what a cookie jar might be sold for at cookie jar shows or shops. Although online auctions do play a large part in the lives of many collectors, and bargains can be found there, these price suggestions do not always reflect online auctions. There are too many factors to be considered with the price realized at an online auction. Some of these include: how good the photo was, availability of buyers, other jars listed, the description wording, the rating of the seller, time of the auction --both day and hour ending, and of course the category jar was listed in.

Please note: I am not an appraiser, just someone who has been involved in the world of cookie jars for many years.
