|More About This Cookie Jar -- Is it Junk or a Jewel?|
Do you know anything about this jar?
From Joyce: We got it in the late 50's or early 60's when I lived in Los Angeles, California. My mom doesn't remember anything about it, other than her mother bought it for her. It's been in my family for as long as I can remember. There are no markings on this to indicate who made it or where it is from. I took it to an appraiser, they couldn't find it in any of the books. They said it was "redware" by looking at the bottom edges. It is glazed all around the inside and the bottom (except for the rim of the bottom, it looks like brick colored clay/pottery type). The bottom glazed part is also dark brown. This cookie jar is 11 inches high and 8 inches across the widest part.
