Prices Realized from eBay/Live Auction - May 2003.

  • Lionel was founded by Joshua Lionel Cowen in 1900.
  • The 1950's was the pinnacle of Lionel's success, with what the Lionel Company feels was their best products and record profits.
  • Lionel filed for bankruptcy in 1967 and licensed its electric trains to General Mills in 1969.
  • Lionel changed hands in 1985 to Kenner-Parker.
  • In 1986 Richard Kughn bought the brand.
  • Musician Neil Young helped created Liontech, train control and sound systems.

This auction consisted of all pre-war Lionel trains, collection was put away in 1942 and not opened since. Prices shown DO NOT include 17.5% Buyers Premium.
