Remember the aluminum trees from the sixties? Typically decorated all with one color bows or one color satin
balls, it was the hot decor item!
This great sixties tree, complete in box with all the little paper sleeves was found at a flea market during the summer. These are not too hard to find, but this particular one was extremely full and in excellent condition. It was one of those must-haves! Several different attempts to photograph this aluminum tree have not been very satisfactory, but I decided to go with what I have. Hopefully it will be clear enough to show the effect.

One end of the long living room has a leaded glass bay window. The space in the window area is approximately 5' tall and opens to the street in front of the house. We usually take off our sheers and open the house to the world through this window. The aluminum tree is a perfect fit for this space. Instead of doing the traditional all one color bow and satin ball treatment, I decided to use my old glass bead garlands. Looping, draping, and swagging them all around the tree. |
| Old glass ornaments, vintage glass drops, and a few newer glass heart ornaments make this a
perfect tree. Actually, I was surprised at how nice the vintage glass ornaments and garlands look
on this funky tree.
The ornaments are a bit hard to see, but there are really quite a few of them. It is the same with the glass ornament garlands, there are many on the tree, just hard to see.
![]() Instead of the standard revolving color wheel in this room, a set of clear lights was nestled around the base of the tree on top of a silvery fabric. Next a layer of silver mesh was put on top of the lights to diffuse the light a bit and to "hide" the strings of lights. Don't you love it when something turns out better than you expected? This project was one of those, everytime I loook at this tree -- it makes me smile!
