Michael Sheehan, author of the Word Parts Dictionary is helping collectors come up with a correct way to invent a word describing their passion. Sheehan was kind enough to share the following words he has "invented" for collectors and associations.
From Sheehan:Dictionaries and official hobby publications are the only safe places to find established hobby names. People make them up all the time and insert them in personal web pages, but some attempts are pretty lame and probably will not pass the test of time. In addition, they don't always follow the time-honored tradition of using Latin and Greek roots in a consistent way, so they offend logophiles (word lovers). action Figures = plastokinesophile
