Top 10 Sports Cards for the Holiday Season
~Michael Eisner

First, I would like to welcome you all to the first installment of the "Sports Card Top 10 List." This weekly column will provide you with the most up to date look into the world of sports trading cards and collectibles. From baseball cards to McFarlane toys, this list will cover it all. Happy hunting!

10. 2001 Topps Tribute Baseball - Unopened boxes are selling for $600 - if you can find one! The Patch relics are scorching!

9. 2003 Topps Stadium Club Baseball - Overflowing with relics and short-printed "first year" rookie cards, including Jason Stokes. This product is on most astute collector's want-lists. Look for dual autographed "Co-Signers" of Hank Aaron/Willie Mays.

8. 2001 Donruss Elite Extra Edition - These rookie redemptions have been popular since the exchange deadline passed last December. The rookie cards of note here are Mark Prior, Mark Teixiera and Junior Spivey, but the Victor Martinez rookie has been turning heads, as of late.

7. 2002 Topps XPectations Basketball - Three words - Yao Ming autograph. In addition, every box is guaranteed 4 relics and 1 certified autograph.

6. 2002 Playoff Honors Football - With 2 relics and 2 autographs per box, how can you go wrong? Playoff always seems to put out some of the best football product every year.

5. 2002 Fleer Box Score Football - Football is hot and Box Score is following suit. If you are into memorabilia cards, this product has got a lot to offer.

4. 2001 eTopps Michael Vick - Vick set a modern day record with 175 rushing yards this past Sunday. His eTopps rookie card has been on fire as they have been selling for $50-60 per.

3. 2002 Bowman's Best Football - Similar to the baseball release, every pack ($16.99 srp) contains either a rookie autograph or relic. With names like David Carr, Chad Hutchinson, Antwaan Randle El and Joey Harrington, this product looks to be a winner!

2. Upper Deck Legendary Cuts cut signatures - These are among the hottest cards in the hobby today. If you are lucky enough to pull a Babe Ruth, you could sell it and buy yourself a nice pre-owned vehicle.

1. 2002 Topps Tribute - Leaps and bounds better than last year's edition - if you can believe that. The 2002 version is choc-full of serial-numbered relics and parallels as well as certified autographs of Don Mattingly and Mike Schmidt.

Eisner has been an avid sports card collector for over 20 years and has been guilty of hoarding mass quantities of Kenner Starting Lineup figures and autographs along the way. His hobby travels eventually brought him to Wizardworld.com, where he was a senior staff writer/price guide editor from 2000-2001. He has also appeared on numerous radio shows discussing sports collectibles.
