There are many ways to use these tiny images, but my favorite is for
AOL Instant Messenger, a free program that
anyone can use, even if you don't otherwise use AOL. Instant Messenger
is a terrific way to stay in touch with
family and friends -- instant messages! I use it every day to talk to
our children, family and friends both across town or
across the country. I can chat with collectors across the country,
share urls and sites to surf and chat.

Buddy Icons are a little image that will show up underneath or next to
your messages as you chat with your Buddies.
You can use an official Buddy AOL icon, use the Super Buddy icon or a
picture from your own computer.
Here are some icons created for cookie jar collectors.
- Put you mouse over the icon of choice and right click to Save Picture As.
Remember where you save it on your computer!
- Go to your AOL Instant Messenger box and click on Prefs (below Setup)
- A new window will open up. Under Category on the left side, scroll down 1/3 of the way and
click on Buddy Icons.
- Set Your Buddy Icon will appear, along with two choices: Browse PC or Clear Icon. Select Browse PC.
- Find the Icon previously saved on your computer and Select It.
- A small window will appear "Please make sure you have the rights, etc.." Click Okay
- That should be it! All these icons have been tested to make sure they are the right size, etc. They are
all created by me and I give you the right to use these for your personal use.
