Donruss officials announced on Monday that they have signed heavy-hitting outfielder Delmon Young, the No. 1 overall selection of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the June First-Year Player Draft, to a trading-card agreement. Young's first Donruss Rookie Cards and certified autographs will appear in 2003 DLP Rookies & Traded, an all-rookie updated set scheduled to release in mid December. Highlighting Young's Rookies & Traded presence will be Donruss Elite Extra Edition and Donruss Diamond Kings RCs.
"The addition of Young to a DLP Rookies & Traded product already rich in content should make this launch one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year," says Donruss spokesman Tracy Hackler. "Incorporating Young into a potent mix that already includes second overall pick Rickie Weeks, not to mention a host of other highly coveted prospects, should make DLP Rookies & Traded a high-demand product."
Donruss reached agreement with Rickie Weeks earlier this year.
