2003 Donruss Timeless Treasures

It began with the 2001 Donruss Signature Series and continues on with the 2003 Donruss Timeless Treasures release. What, you may ask? I give you the “Collectible Tin.” Sort of like, a pack within a pack, only not exactly – do you get my drift?

You see - a pack of Timeless Treasures isn’t really a pack, per se, rather 5 cellophane wrapped cards contained inside of a randomly selected “Collectible Tin” depicting any one of a selection of former Major League Baseball greats, such as Babe Ruth or Lou Gehrig.

In addition to the base cards, which incidentally are serial-numbered to just 900, you are guaranteed one game-used and/or autographed memorabilia card serial-numbered to 250 or less. I must admit, that does sound tempting. And I must also admit that I have seen hundreds of these little tins ripped open in anticipation of “the big pull.”

From 1/1 cut signatures of Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb to game-used jersey/autographs of Roger Clemens and Alex Rogriguez, this product contains all the makings of a classic.

In my tin, I was able to score a game-used jersey/bat/autograph of Magglio Ordonez serial-numbered to just 25!

There are numerous themes and levels of memorabilia inserts including Rookie Materials, Hall Of Fame Materials, Hall of Fame Combos, Postseason Materials and Past and Present Materials, just to name a few. In addition there are also a number of autographed inserts including Material Ink, Prime Ink and Major League Logo Ink, which contains an autograph and the major league baseball logo from a game-used jersey of the player depicted on the card.

Timeless Treasures carries on the tradition of top-notch high-end Donruss products. Based on this release, I sincerely hope that Donruss carries over this line to Football.
