First and foremost, the packaging on this product was some of the best I have ever seen in the 25 plus years that I have been an avid card collector. On top of the “wrapper” the individual card contained in the package was individually wrapped in clear cellophane to protect your precious cardboard gem.
Another kicker – each box is guaranteed to contain at least one certified autographed memorabilia card. While our box didn’t yield the brightest of autographed stars (Paul LoDuca), I did get what was advertised.
In addition to the autographed jersey card, my box was loaded with serial-numbered parallel jerseys and bats. The best card I pulled was a game-used bat of George Brett serial numbered to just 50. I also scored an Alfonso Soriano game-used bat serial numbered to 75.
The most interesting card I pulled had to be the game-used fielding glove card of Kerry Wood serial numbered to just 45. The remaining jersey cards I pulled were Nomar Garciaparra, Lance Berkman and a Vladimir Guerreo numbered to 150.
While these boxes will run you a pretty penny ($19.99 SRP per pack), they are still affordable compared to some of the other guaranteed memorabilia per pack entities.
The 2003 Playoff Piece of the Game product is a tremendous improvement over last year’s product of the same name. Playoff apparently has its sights set on becoming the top dog when it comes to memorabilia and certified autographed cards, which I can’t argue with.
If you’re looking for memorabilia and autographed cards galore coupled with tough serial-numbered parallels, try a pack or a box of 2003 Playoff Piece of the Game.
This is truly a masterful product.
