For starters, every box of Patch Collection boasts a box-topper containing 2 random full-size commemorative patches memorializing a specific event in baseball history anything from a specific World Series to an All-Star Game. These patches are placed on an oversized card back and contain a certificate of authenticity on the reverse. This is a fine incentive for those that choose to open a full box of this product.
In addition to the box-topper, every box contains 20 packs of 5 cards with a suggested retail price of $3.99 per pack. The collation was perfect as my box contained 96 total base cards with no doubles and 4 patch collection sub-set cards including Roger Clemens, Ichiro Suzuki and Catfish Hunter.
While my luck didnt yield any autographed patch cards, the odds of pulling any Signature Patch is 1:320, or in other words 1 per 12-box case. In perusing eBay, I have seen some beautiful signature patches come out of this product, so if you are fortunate enough to pull one kudos to you!
As I mentioned before, the meat and potatoes of this product (the patch cards) are as innovative as I have seen in quite some time. The price point for this product is right on and the packaging is tight. In other words, 2003 Upper Deck Patch Collection is a winner!
Here is an overview of the stated odds from as stated on the inset of a 2003 Upper Deck Patch Collection wrapper:

- 15 All-Star Selection (1:40)
- 15 Hall of Famers (1:40)
- 11 Rookie Innovation (1:20)
- 21 MVPs (1:20)
- 19 Signature Patches (1:320)
