Donruss Football Elite

Donruss Elite Football Card

Mike Eisner
Jul 8 2003
Donruss Elite football is back in full swing for 2003. As been with past releases, this year’s product is jam-packed with serial-numbered inserts including a plethora or rookies as well as a fine assortment of game-used memorabilia and autographed cards. Here’s a quick overview of what you might find in a box of 2003 Donruss Elite football:
  • Inserts/Parallels Aspirations (serial #’d to the remaining number out of a 100)
  • Status (serial #'d to the players jersey number)
  • Turn Of The Century Autographs (serial #’d to 125)
  • 15 College Ties (serial #'d to 2,000)
  • 20 Pro Bowl Standouts (serial #’d to 2,002)
  • 30 Passing The Torch (singles serial #’d to 1,000, doubles serial #’d to 500)
  • 30 Passing The Torch Autographs (singles serial #’d to 100, doubles serial #’d to 50)
  • 45 Throwback Threads (singles serial #’d to 250, doubles serial #’d to 75)
  • 20 Prime Patches (serial #’d to 50)
  • 35 Masks Of Steel (singles serial #’d to 400, doubles serial #’d to 50, and triples serial #’d to 25)
  • 18 Back To The Future (singles serial #’d to 1,000, and doubles serial #’d to 500)
  • 18 Back To The Future Threads (singles serial #’d to 250, and doubles serial #’d to 100)

The base set, which by the way boasts some of the best photography I have ever seen in any football release, contains 100 cards as well as 100 different rookie cards, each serial-numbered to just 500 copies each. The rookie checklist is a “who’s who” of the upcoming 2003 NFL rookie class including Byron Leftwich, Jesse Palmer and Larry Johnson, just to name a few.

The suggested retail price of a pack of Elite is $3.99, with full boxes containing 20 packs each. We really like this product, as we do most every Donruss/Playoff release, because of the reasonable price point and the top-notch creativity that encompasses every Donruss/Playoff product.
