Upon the products release, Topps announced that all 73 autographs contained in "Group A" were short-prints, limited to just 50 copies each. See next page for a complete listing of all 73 short-printed autographs.
These short-printed autographs have created quite a buzz within the industry. Some of the realized prices for these autographs have been astounding, including $660 for a Tom Seaver, $550 for a George Brett and $325 for a Wade Boggs.
While Topps has not confirmed this, there is also speculation that the certified autographs contained in both "Group B" and "Group C" are short-printed, although not to the extreme that "Group A" was.
Each 24-pack hobby box contains an average of 2 autographs and 1 relic per box. The relic, which is either a game-used jersey or bat, is contained in a box-topper along with either an advertisement card or a vintage "buy-back" containing an embossed "Topps All-Time Fan Favorites" stamp. The "buy-back" program contains many vintage cards covering over 50 years of past Topps issues.
In addition to the relics and autographs, there is a serial numbered chrome refractor parallel set, which are packed between 1 and 2 per box on average. These have been immensely popular amongst hobbyists as they scramble to complete sets of these attractive cards.
Topps All-Time Fan Favorites follows in the footsteps of previous Topps releases including Archives and Best Years. This set was very well done and was reasonably priced at $2.99 per pack.
